Queen West residents and designers Chris Tyrell and Jim Searle of Hoax Couture took part in the Dare to Wear Love fashion show on Oct. 23.

The show featured gowns with a Western design but made out of fabrics sourced from African communities. Over 25 designers and celebrity models took part.

The Stephen Lewis Foundation supports community-based organizations working to turn the tide of HIV/AIDS in Africa. Since 2003, the foundation has funded more than 300 projects in 15 countries.

The evening’s goal was to raise $100,000.00 for the foundation and was organized by the Fashion Design Council of Canada.
