These trees would be built on a parking lot. The property is city owned, but city hall has agreed to sell the land. The Parkdale Residents Assn. plans to present a petition to the mayor and council on May 5.

Parkdale residents are seeking help in their struggle to save a western beach from being denuded of trees and replaced by a parking lot to serve two private clubs.
At issue is a 200-metre strip beachfront between the Boulevard Club and the Toronto Sailing and Canoe Club.
Area residents, represented by the Parkdale Residents Assn., fear the loss of their beach to developers for a strip of asphalt.
Both clubs say they need the parking area to serve their growing memberships.
The lower-income residents of Parkdale consider the beach one of their rights to access the waterfront without intruding on private property or paying fees they can’t afford to join a private club.
City hall gave approval for the beach grab by the private interests, but PRA members are hoping a petition that can be signed on line will reverse the decision and protect their beach.

They plan to take the petition to Mayor David Miller on May 5.
